Benefits Eligibility Requirements
Employees can receive WA-PFML wage replacement if they meet eligibility criteria (worked at least 820 hours in Washington State) and experience a qualifying event.

WA-PFML Benefits Guide (v15)
Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave (WA-PFML)
Employees working in Washington State may apply for benefits under the Washington Paid Family & Medical Leave (WA-PFML) program for qualified family and personal medical leave after being absent from work for 7 consecutive calendar days. (No waiting period for recovery from childbirth or new child bonding).
Medical Leave - You may receive up to 12 weeks of medical leave for recovery or treatment for your own serious health condition described as an illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition that involves inpatient care in a hospital, hospice, or residential medical care facility, including any period of incapacity, including recovery from childbirth.
Family Leave - You could receive up to 12 weeks of family leave to bond with your child during the first 12 months of birth or placement, to care of a qualifying family member who is ill or injured, or because of a qualifying military exigency as permitted under FMLA. You may take up to 16 weeks of combined medical and family leave if you have events covered by both in the same year.

Trident Paid Parental Leave, sick and vacation hours are considered “supplemental” benefits under the WA-PFML program. Total Paid Parental Leave, sick and vacation hours plus pay under WA-PFML cannot exceed 100% of the employee’s base wages at their regularly scheduled hours (not including overtime).
